Hello everybody,
Hi, I'm completely new to Joomla, Phoca Cart and everything related to it. However, I've been designing websites for the past three decades in one way or another on and off, only personal and not commercially. I created my first website in 1992 in pure html.
Now I'm trying to figure out how Joomla and Phoca cart work in terms of layout. It's a whole new world for me and I'm having a lot of trouble because the knowledge I have from before feels like I'm standing in a corner. I'm old school and always been crafting (whatever it is) on my own and now feeling like" teaching an old dog to sit".
I've looked around for frameworks and have come to the conclusion that Yootheme is what seems to suit me best. But I'm not comfortable with blogging and it seems like that's the primary thing about Yootheme?
But after googling and reading this forum, I see that many pages have been created with Yootheme and Phoca Cart with superior results.
I've prepared and downloaded Phoca Cart overrides and Phoca Cart Bridge from GitHub. And then the question arises. Can I build an intuitive website with a completely different layout than Phoca default templates without having to buy PCuikit V2? It's a bit of a pain to buy things you don't know if it's "buying a pig in a poke", especially if it's just a layout for one website. So I want to try building something dynamic in Yootheme to see if it's worth the trouble making it on my own.
But with either too much documentation that is difficult to absorb as a "beginner" and too much to take in at once, I wonder where to start?
I've read parts of Phoca Cart and the YooTheme documentation and also watched videos but unfortunately it doesn't give me the whole picture of what I want to achieve. So how do I get started with Yootheme/Phoca Cart and dynamic content on a new fresh layout?
